Covid Protocols
NOTE: This is the situation as at 23 April 2022 and this will be the situation on race day.
It’s all systems go for the 2022 MiWay Wally Hayward Marathon and we trust that you are as excited as us for the event.
There is however one important matter to attend to over the next few days. Upon entry you indicated whether you are vaccinated or not and were requested to upload your vaccination certificate if you are vaccinated. Thank you to all who complied to this request. Unfortunately there are some of you who did not comply yet. We urgently request that you upload your vaccination certificate here: https://myevents.active.com/AlphaCenturionRunners
If you are not vaccinated you will have to produce a negative COVID-19 test, recognized by the World Health Organization, which was obtained not more than 72 hours before the event. The following tests will be allowed:

Antigen Test, also known as “lateral flow testing” or “rapid antigen testing”

Serology Test, also called the antibody test
These tests must be done from Friday 29 April 2022 onwards and can also be uploaded here: https://myevents.active.com/AlphaCenturionRunners
It will be much appreciated if you could upload these documents before race day. In order to speed up the process during registration, please also bring your vaccination certificate or a negative test along on number collection day. Either an electronic copy or a hard copy will be accepted. The number collection entrance will be controlled upon entry.
Please understand that we are governed by Athletics South Africa and Athletics Gauteng North and we were only granted permission to host 6 000 athletes if we comply to the transitional measures as communicated by our President: “Secondly, the existing restrictions on gatherings will continue as a transitional measure.”

Although the national state of disaster was lifted this week, certain transitional guidelines will remain in place for the next 30 days, including the fact that events with more than 2 000 participants will have to provide a vaccination certificate or a negative test.
Statement: We will allow fully vaccinated as well as unvaccinated runners, T&C's apply.
Entry:

Upon entering you will have to indicate whether you are fully vaccinated or not.

Then you will be asked to upload your vaccination certificate after you have entered.

Then you will be allowed to continue to enter, but you will have to produce a government approved negative test done less than 72 hours prior to the event.

Race number collection:

Pre-entry packs can be collected at the race venue on:

Saturday 30 April 2022 and Sunday 1 May 2022 from 12h00 to 19h00

Monday 2 May 2022 from 4h30 to 6h00.

It is however strongly advised that you collect your number on the Saturday or Sunday, as it will be very busy on race day with the Covid protocols which will be in place. Thank you for making an effort to collect your race number before the race. PS: Race number collection will ONLY be at the venue i.e. Centurion Rugby Club (https://g.page/TheWallyHayward?share).

Race Day:

Club tents and trailers will be allowed. Please note that all trailers and tents must be erected at the venue between 12h00 and 18h00 on Sunday 1 May, no exceptions.
The Start: Rolling/staggered

Upon entering you will select your estimated finish time.

Please complete this as truthful as possible.

You will be seeded in batches based on what you entered as your estimated finish time.

Batches will be moved into the starting area in regular intervals.
Timing:

Timing will be on a "mat-to-mat" basis.

Timing will be done by FinishTime.

Category contenders will be timed "gun-to-mat" and will start in the A-batch.
