Parking on Race Day

Some useful tips to get to the venue and alleviate the congestion:

  • Carpooling:

    • Grab a couple of your mates and come in one car. It’s easier to find parking for one vehicle, not to mention the saving on fuel.

  •  Gautrain:

    •  Take the Gautrain and avoid the hassle of traffic and parking. The Centurion station is literally 500 meters from the venue. Coming from Sandton or Hatfield you’ll still be on time for the start.

  • N14 versus N1:

    • Avoid the congestion and take the N14 to get to the venue. Simply take the Jean Avenue off-ramp and get to the venue a lot faster.

  • Botha Avenue from the N1:

    • Take the Botha Avenue off-ramp rather than the John Vorster off-ramp, and get to the venue via the “back door”.

  • Additional Parking: Gautrain Station (2 000 parking bays)

    • We’ve negotiated with Gautrain to make use of their parking at the Centurion station in West Avenue. Plenty of safe parking for a mere R126.

    • The parking will be open from 04:00 am on race day. Again: it is a mere 500 meters from the venue.

    • Take the N14 and slip off the highway at Jean Avenue, or coming with the N1, take Botha Avenue and you’ll be at the Gautrain station in a whizz.

Respect the Parking Marshals at all times. They are there to assist and know the parking situation best, (since they have radio communication).

PARKING IS AT OWN RISK.

Please arrive EARLY to avoid congestion.

Parking areas

Apart from the many “free” options (with formal car guards on duty, donations will be appreciated) to park in wide streets with suitable parking areas (such as South Str., Leonie, Thea, Von Willich, etc.), the race organisers have negotiated with property owners in the vicinity of the race venue to make their premises available for parking for the Wally. These private parking areas will be manned by professional security staff, property owners and charities and ALL proceeds from payments for parking will go directly towards the owners and to the charities attending to the parking areas. If you choose to park there, please have the correct amount of cash available to pay.
